 Case Study - Ship Launch C.S. Bold Endeavour

Over the years I have organised nine ship launches as well as a host of other unique events from opening a cable station in County Kerry, Ireland to contract signings in Reykjavik, Iceland and product launches in Hong Kong.


Ship launches make a wonderful event, a huge amount of planning and co-ordination is required.  Below is an insight to the elements that combined to the launch of CS Bold Endeavour at the Van der Giessen-de Noord ship yard in Rotterdam, Netherlands.  The project budget was set at £350,000.00 and I was responsible for the management of the entire project reporting directly to the CEO of the company.  Eight different marketing agencies were involved everything from hand painted gifts to bespoke 3D invitations were sourced from carefully selected marketing companies across the country.


  • The launch ceremony was attended by over 200 international guests. 
  • It included a full itinerary covering travel, meetings, and entertainment.
  • The launch included a brass band, press and the naming ceremony.
  • Prior to the launch a reception was hosted at a local castle.
  • Full catering & evening entertainment aboard a support vessel.
  • A gift pack for every guest was presented.
  • A hand painted ship plaque was designed and given to VIPs.
  • A film of the ship build and launch was made.
